Hula Dance in Politics

In Cantonese, the Hula Dance can be directly translated as "the grass dance". However the meaning goes deeper than that. More or less it means, doing something drastic such as resigning or quitting to get what you want, usually money.

I have seen a couple of hula dances these few days. A case in point is the alleged resignation of Gelang Patah Wanita chairman Ong Poh Hoi over the issue that three of the YBs in the state is from Kulai division. This kita lawan mereka attitude in the party is definitely unhealthy when the real "lawan" is snickering on the sidelines. A party leader scoffs at the episode, saying that she will return when the boss gives her what she wants. $$$!! We will see. I hope he is wrong and the woman stays resigned. The party do not need such sunshine members.

Another episode that is detrimental to the party is the bloodsuckers that surface during election. A branch leader from Skudai has been camping out at the HQ lamenting his need for funds, t shirts , caps etc to promote the campaign. Everyday he would be at the HQ looking to meet the YB for some scraps like the stray dogs at food courts everywhere. The problem was when requested for a few members for polling duties, he pleaded to be let off beause he does not have people. How can a branch chairman not have 4 person to work in the election. One wonders how he got elected in the first place.

LATEST: Resignation has been cancelled. The Boss works fast.
